It is Big Night, when all the mole salamanders get out to their nearest vernal pool and Party, when a) it's raining, and b) it's over 42 degrees Fahrenheit. Last night it stopped raining, but there were, as noted, some amphibian activities. And probably at least two wood frogs had a private party of their own: my frog puddle is pregnant.

Wow...that takes me back about 40 years when we collected eggs and tadpoles back behind "Genspeigler's Dam" to take in for 4th grade science!
We used to have lots of spring peepers every April, but our @$#@$% neighbors have all felt it necessary to "dope" all of the local mini-ponds because of their fear of West Nile virus. One step closer to Silent Spring.
How cheerful to come home after a weekend away to frogs, salamaders and turkeys. I love the girls ignoring the boys! And pregnant ponds, too fun. No newts here yet this year, they are probably fearful of drowning. It's late for them, but I still have hope that spring will come and they will saunter out.
Not sure how I surfed in here, but had to say hi, because I'm in Nashua and love to shop at the Elegant Ewe! I don't have a knitting blog, but my daughter does and lets me guest-post: Magpie.oddones.org
So, hi!
yeppers...agree with 'valerie'..and the frogs are being hit hard in this equation!
Be curious to see if your 'catch' a photo when eggs hatch! Love the pic of the turkeys and the males doing 'their thing'...
